Collective Motivational Attitudes in Cooperative Problem Solving

چکیده
In this paper we investigate the role of collective commitments in groups of agents involved in Cooperative Problem Solving (CPS). Collective intentions and collective commitmens are formalized in the logical framework designed by Rao and Georgee in 22]. The novelty of our approach is to base a collective commitment on a social plan, and deening it in terms of collective intentions and pairwise social commitments between team members together with mutual beliefs about them. During social plan execution collective commitment within a group inevitably leads to the execution of agent-speciic actions. However, due to the dynamic and possibly unpredictable environment, team members may fail their actions or be presented with new opportunities. Thus, it is necessary for them to monitor action performance and replan based on the present situation. This leads to the reconnguration problem. In order to solve this problem, the main phases of CPS, namely construction, maintenance, and realization of collective commitments, are assigned to a four-level abstract architecture. In terms of these generic levels and their interplay reconngu-ration algorithm is speciied.

A Tuning Machine for Cooperative Problem Solving
In this paper we aim to formally model individual, social and collective motivational attitudes in teams of agents involved in Cooperative Problem Solving. Particular attention is given to the strongest motivational attitude, collective commitment, which leads to team action. First, building on our previous work, a logical framework is sketched in which social commitments and collective intenti...
متن کاملCollective Intentions
In this paper the notion of collective intention in teams of agents involved in cooperative problem solving (CPS) in multiagent systems (MAS) is investigated. Starting from individual intentions , goals, and beliefs defining agents' local asocial motivational and informational attitudes, we arrive at an understanding of a collective intention in a team of agents. The presented definitions are r...
متن کاملDialogue in teamwork
Though communication is a vital ingredient of Cooperative Problem Solving (CPS) in multiagent systems (MAS), an in-depth analysis of different types of communication has been missing in the MAS literature. This paper presents an investigation into the role that five specific types of dialogue play during consecutive stages of CPS in BDI systems, i.e., potential recognition, team formation, plan...

In this paper we aim to describe dynamic aspects of social and collective attitudes in teams of agents involved in Cooperative Problem Solving (CPS). Particular attention is given to the strongest motivational attitude, collective commitment, and its evolution during team action. First, building on our previous work, a logical framework is sketched in which a number of relevant social and colle...
متن کاملSolving a Two-Period Cooperative Advertising Problem Using Dynamic Programming
Cooperative advertising is a cost-sharing mechanism in which a part of retailers' advertising investments are financed by the manufacturers. In recent years, investment among advertising options has become a difficult marketing issue. In this paper, the cooperative advertising problem with advertising options is investigated in a two-period horizon in which the market share in the second period...
